damn....lesson learned

Welp, I've learned my lesson about saving for a rainy day...cause it's pooring right now and I didn't buy that umbrella. Let me show you what I'm talking about....



That my friends is a BEAUTIFUL 1967 Lincoln Continental convertable. Red exterior, tan top, black leather. They don't get much better then that. And the price? A fucking steal for 5g's. Which, I would have right now had I not been spending it. So...oh well. It is local pickup only....so that means I coulda flown out and drived (or towed, or something) it back. That woulda been fun. Oh well, live and learn...just hope an oppurtunity like this comes up when I have the cash for it.

Still want a new GTO (or a '66)....the spark and passion are still there...but above anything, I'm a realist and realize that I just probably would be getting myself in above my head.

i'm a freakin' genius

Some call me crazy. Then they get to know me. Then they want to admit me....cause then they really get to know me. So, instead of replacing a burnt out bulb on my truck and spending just a few dollars (if that, I think I have a spare bulb in the shop), I spent about $25 and 6 hours worth of work making a new light. But then again, that's the spirit of hot rodding at it's best.

My latest venture into the demented and sick is a custom fabbed CHMSL (center high mount stop lamp)..or 3rd eye. That third brake light on your car. I used to run a blue dot (another hot rodder trick), but then replaced the assembly with an all red one to smooth the look out. I knew my bulb had burnt out in that light and has been for a while...didn't think much of it until I realized that this was the perfect time to stretch my custom muscles. Been a while since I really completly fabbed something on my truck instead of just adding on or modifying...then with the American Chopper/Hot Rod marathons going on on the Disco Channel, I got tired of watching other have all the fabrication fun and set out to do my own.

I made a new CHMSL out of some 1/4" plexi. It provides a nice low profile and sleek look. I decided on using a neon tube for light instead of the traditional LEDs...just to be different really. Even with customs there is the generic custom and the custom custom. So I bought a 9" red neon tube today for the light...which I had to modify to get to fit in the opening..no biggie really. Got it all put together, made me a gasket and bolted it to the truck...I think you'll agree that the look is much better then stock.

And to those who make promises and don't follow through, leading people on and getting them all exicited for nothing.....that's really not cool at all. I jsut hope my dissapointment and anger/disgust is justified and that there isn't a more serious underlying problem to the unkowns absenteeisim......

Don't you hate it when people say they want to get together, then never follow through? Yeah, that sucks....still got a few days left till I actually get pissed. Eh.

Got a few new goodies...an air powered DA sander and some new tires. Wow...that sander makes short work of all our sanding needs and leaves a super nice finish. Finish work will be a breeze now. And, in true hot rodder/old skool fashion, I scored a free set of tires for the '66. These puppies are nice and wide...I think the size is 255/50R15. Gonna have to buy some new wheels, but I knew that anyhow. The tires are about the widest we can fit up under the truck with out tubbing...we're doing a mild tub, so we'll have plenty of clearance. They look mean as hell up under the rear end...very sweet.

No need to tell you which one is stock and which isn't....

ah jeeze.....that can't be healthy

Well, it's official...the medical community doesn't know why I'm different. I went to the doctor today to get checked out. I don't have the flu flu, but I do have a viral infection...so basically, I have the flu. Bed rest and lots of it is the doctors order. Lots of fluids too. And I have a written excuse through Thursday too, so I'm good to go. Also got an Rx for some cough syrup that has codine in it...too bad it tastes like ass. But onto why I'm different...Yesterday I took my temperature with the thermometer we have here at the house.....96.8, well that's not right. Try again...97.0, damn. Try again....97.4....what in the?? OK, try the mercury thermometer....96.4 degrees....well damn, huh?? So we try one of those stick on teh forehead thermometers...like on the side of a fishtank...102.6. So today at the dr's, thier thermometer only read 97 degrees as well. I dunno what it is, I'm doing it right, but I can't seem to get a true temperature reading...eh, oh well.


Also finally got a new computer today....my old one was past due for an upgrade. I've had it for 6 or 7 years...I bit the bullet and got me a nice 17" widescreen laptop. Even though it's not the same as the one in the link, as mine is last years model, but it's basically the exact same thing. The only difference I can see between mine and the one on the far left is mine uses a nVIDIA G-Force graphics card and not a ATi Mobility one...otherwise all the specs are the same. Haven't really gotten a chance to play it yet...gonna be fun trying to get all my old file fom my old one to my new one....but eh, at least I got a spiffy new computer.

Being sick sucks. Second day in a row I'm not at work cause I'm sick. Yesterday it was mostly just a bad headcold and some severe muscle pain....to the point that walking was difficult. Today it's a really bad headcold, headache, and a touch of nausea to finish me off. I actually didn't feel that nausiated until I took some medicine....jeeze. It's like a flu shot...you won't get the flu, but you'll have a cold all summer. It sucks to be sitting in a room that I dunno, 85°, under two blankets, and still be cold. I'll be online later playing some HALO 2...UtopiaUnknown...if you find me, have fun shooting me, I'm only a level 4 1/2, and only on Team Skirmish...never played anything else. Hope everyone else is doing well...can't wait till this time two weeks from now. Whoo-doggie.

I think I'll be buying some OEM Brazilian Ranger headlights. They are one peice units with the side marker integrated into the headlight, and look similar to how mine are now...with the nonessential chrome blacked out. Ive been considering making a similar style of side marker light, but these came up and I simply have to have them. The price is right, I got money, will have to mod to fit, which will hopefully deter most people from doing it as well, at least keeping my set a little special. I know of one other guy in Texas I belive that is getting some.

Not sure if I'll make it into work or not tonite....I'm already fighting a cold, and then today I spent 7 hours or so in a freezer....which was -6° most of the time. Yup, not feeling good at all. May give some time to paly soem Halo 2....eh, I'll prolly end up going tho.

You know what sucks? Concussions. Concussions suck. I got one of those Thursday nite at work. When ever you work on a lift with the forks up, and will be doing work which may cause the forks to fall, you put some wood in the fork channel so the forks will only fall so far and not crush you....well, Raymond was working with the forks up, and a 6' 2x4 in the forks channel. He raised the forks up off of the board. I was working down low next to hit....board came lose and hit me square in the head. Hurt like hell. Had a helluva a headache for the rest of the nite..was dizzy for a few hours afterwards even. Fun times. Not as bad as my last concussion where I lost 2 weeks worth of memory, but then again, all concussions aren't really good.

Got my XBox Live subscription up and running..Gamertag: UtopiaUnknown. Not really sure the reasoning behind my name, but it's catchy. Head Cold was already taken, so I chose something else. Games I've got online so far are Nascar Thunder: 2005, Crimson Skies, Halo 2, and maybe another one...haven't checked yet. If you find me, come whoop my ass....I'm good cannon fodder.
