these lies have torn my world apart
I've gotta stop quoting obscure song lyrics....dang
Yee-haw...one step closer (damn song lyrics again) to getting the truck all smoothed and shaved out, which I reckon is the next stage for the Ranger. I figure it'll cost be about $600 or so to get everything shaved out, tailgate, fenders, doors (with poppers and remote), antenna (remote hidden antenna), smooth roll pan, stake pockets, fuel filler door, and maybe the third brake light. I'll do some minor body work to the top of the bed rails..they are kinda wavy. Then comes the two-tone paint and pinstriping. When will it all be done? Who knows, by the end of the year I'm hoping. I may also get a fuel cell...but I can do that any time. I wouldn't mind skinning the inside of the bed either..that'd be a nice touch. Then of course, after all of that comes bags....
Assuming, of course, that I do pass all my FireFighter tests and training, and get hired, I'm really looking seriously at getting my own ride (yup, that whole BS again). From my last foray into the world of car buying, I now know what to expect, and what to do. I'm REALLY seriously looking at getting an imported car. Why? Well, why the hell not? I know I'll pay a little more for it, but come on, it'll be obviously a unique vehicle, I'll be sure to have the only one around. What am I looking at getting? My top choice is a 99+ Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R. Of course, you can't talk about importing Japanese autos without mentioning a Skyline. This puppy looks to be a good buy. It's only an R33, and I'd really like an R34, but that's a bit too rich for my blood. Of course, the problem with imports is getting parts, either custom or upkeep. No biggie really. The cost of those two pictured rides isn't as outrageous as you might think, only about $25K for the Silvia, and $30K for the Skyline. Expensive for a use car, yes...but these are being imported, and legal, and are super rare.
Be sure to check out my buddy Jimmy's website. CenterStageCustoms. It's where I'm getting my roll pan from (through him from Grant Kustoms specifically). Not a whole lot on the site right now to buy, but the site just went live a few days ago. Go. Buy. Enjoy.
