vroom vroom

Not yet, but soon.

Sunday was a good day. I spent some money, but it was still a good day. You see, I spent the money on something that I've been needing/wanting for a while...no, not an MP5, but rather a 302 and AOD tranny. Yay! The guy has dragged Fords for years but is getting out of it, so he had some stuff lying around that he didn't want or need anymore...score! I also snagged an alumin (halmon-moody) aluminum intake for a 4-barrel, and a double pumper Holley 4-barrel. Hells yeah.

The motor was supposedly a runner, but after tearing it down, it's obvious that this motor hadn't been ran in a long time. So...I'm gonna have to buy a fuel pump, distributor cap (and wires and rotor button), starter alternator, gaskets, cam, lifters, bearings, and various other bits like a carb stud. While the motor isn't a drop in, and will end up being rebuilt, it's still better then an inline 6.

I hope to have the motor done and installed by the middle of May, I'm spacing out the buying of parts so that I'm not spending all of my check at once.

buy me a russian bride

Russian-speaking only. I want to teach her right.

Hmmmm. Nothing new to report really. I mean, I'm still here...still driving the Ranger...still working on the '66.

I've been looking into some new vehicles...I'm really digging the FJ Cruiser, the Saturn Sky, and the Protege5. The first two are highly unlikely to find their way into the driveway; I've no credit to speak off, and the price may be just a bit too out of my reach at this time. Now, the Protege5 is another story. It's cheap, cool, useful, and cool. And cheap. So, in all likely hood, maybe in a month or so, I'll be driving one of those.

Of course, I've made a lot of vehiclar-based promises here, and thus far, non have come true. So take that into account before deciding anything. I am a dirty, filty, low-down dirty liar.

I'd LOVE to dinf me a good '32 Ford steel body. If I could, I'd seriously think about building me a ol' skool rod. I'd make a frame for it, chop it, channel it, Ford motor, stuff like that. But, that's not likely to happen, so that's not what I'm planning. We'll see though, I wouldn't be building it anytime soon anyway, so maybe by the time that I'm ready, I'll have some leads on some stuff. As I see it now, I'll either build up the '32 (maybe '34), or the 550 Spyder. Not in the near future either way, so no worries.

deaf, sore, and my knees hurt

No, it's not what you think. Saturday we had a dyno day for a VW Bug club. Some really, really nice rides showed up. And some really fast rides showed up. I think the car with the highest HP was 174. With like 185 ft/lbs. That doesn't sound like much, but you have to remember that a VW Bug only weighs like 2000 lbs; not to mention that bone stock, some of those cars only made 49 HP. We know, we had a bone stock (motor wise at least) car spin the drums.

Overall it seemed to be a big success. Everyone in attendence were happy with the facility, the people, and the job we did. One fella was saying how he was nervous about letting someone else drive his baby, but after seeing the excellent job we all were doing, he wasn't worried at all. That's a compliment no matter how you cut it.

Hopefully after we get moved into out new building, we'll have at least one dyno day a month. That'll be fun.

shhhh....

I'm huting wabbits.

I'm still here, no worries. Just been a bit tired to really post much. Work tends to do that to you, that evil place called work. It's not too bad really...pay is decent for what I do, but most importantly, it's a job. THe fun thing, though, is that the boss kinda put me on his new M3 as a pet project, whenever I have a bit of extra time he wants me to work on it. I say 'work', but I'll I'm doing is riping the interior out of it.

I just got my first check Tuesday and have already spent most of it. Well, what can I say. I had to get a phone, so I got probably the coolest phone around. It rocks. I like it so far. A bit expensive, but eh...

Man, I'll tell ya, the more and more I think about it, the more and more I want to build me a 550 Spyder. However, I would have to get another vehicle first, as I couldn't drive the 550 everyday, just too impractical. So....I'm thinking the most practical of the current crop of cars I like is the FJ Cruiser. The SKY is cool, but under powered and, well, inpractical. So, who knows...maybe buying a car will force me to keep a job so that I can afford it. ALthough I'd really like to have that second job as a saftey net, just to be sure.
