For any one that doesn't know, I'm a big college football fan, the entertainment factor of collegiate ball is so much more then pro ball. Of course, living in the south and routing for an SEC team helps too. Ain't no ball like SEC ball...go Dawgs...anywho, this is about the poor saps over in California, particulary the Trojans of the University of Southern California. Ranked #1, yet NOT playing for the national championship? What the hell? They are the best team in the country according to the polls (at least the BCS poll, which determines bowl games), and yet, they won't get the National Championship trophy...even if they win thier next, thier final, game? How seriously screwed is that? I'd love to see LSU and USC fight it out for the National Title....good ol' SEC boys vs. the pretty boys from the Pac-10. While the BCS rankings for the most part seem to be fair, and I don't feel it should be disbanded altogether, I do belive it needs to be rethought. Hand out National title bids to the #1 and #2 teams, period. No nothing else, no confrence rulings, none of that horse shit. I don't care if both teams are from the same confrence and have to play three times in the same season.....gives them bragging rights. For any USC fans out there, I'm with ya....and if you win your next game (forget the bowl name, Cotton?, Orange?, Rose?, Fiesta? that they are going too) and LSU loses, I'll reconize USC as national Champs. Now if both LSU and USC win, which ever team that is ranked higher (probably USC) at the end of both games SHOULD be called nation champs...same hold true if both lose. If LSU wins and USC loses, LSU will get my nod for Champs.
